Professor Kasimov developed the widely accepted theory of geochemical barriers and gave detailed description of acidic, alkaline and evaporative barriers. His scientific studies have established basic laws of modern geochemical structure of the steppe and desert landscapes of Eurasia as well as their paleogeochemistry in the Cainozoic era. Prof. Nikolay Kasimov has also conducted pioneer studies in a few scientific fields. His series of cornerstone paper has made a major contribution to crystallizing the modern concept and the strategy of the higher environmental education for sustainable development.
